Exam: Oct 28, 2026Key expected: November80 questions

Status: waiting for CBP

We check CBP's exam page every 30 minutes. We'll email you when the first questions are up, and again when all 80 are worked.

When will CBP release the October 2026 answer key?

CBP hasn't announced a date. It posted both previous October exams in November, together with their answer keys:

  • October 2024 exam: files dated November 12, 2024.
  • October 2025 exam: files dated November 26, 2025.

So expect the October 2026 exam and key some time in November 2026. CBP posts them on its past exams and answer keys page.

October 2026 timeline

  • October 28: exam day.
  • Around November 11–18: score letters. CBP says it emails them within two to three weeks of the exam.
  • November (expected): CBP publishes the exam booklet and answer key.
  • Within 72 hours of that: all 80 questions worked here.
  • 60 days from your score letter: first-appeal deadline, if you scored 57 or more.

What we'll publish

  • All 80 questions, worked. The official answer, the reasoning, the 19 CFR or HTSUS text that decides it, and why each wrong option fails. Practical-exercise forms are shown next to the questions that use them.
  • Questions 1–20 free, the same as our other paid exams. All 80 cost $29, or come with the CBLE Pass ($79, valid through the April 2027 exam).
  • Key problems flagged. Where CBP's key looks debatable, the page says so. Past cases are on our answer-key issues page.
  • The Appeal Helper. Every answer you could have picked, rated for appeal strength, with the supporting text and a draft justification. $49, or included in the Pass.

Scored 57 to 59? You can appeal

From the April 2026 exam on, only examinees who answered at least 57 of 80 correctly can appeal, and up to four questions each. The 60-day clock starts at the date on your score letter, before the key may even be public. Read how to appeal the CBLE for the rules and the package checklist, or see a free Appeal Helper sample.

While you wait

The April 2026 exam is free and fully worked. It's the most recent exam CBP has released, and the first under the current appeal rules.
