April 2026 · Q31 · Classification
Best classification for dried pineapples, reduced in size, suitable for immediate consumption, in small packages?
A0801.19.01
B0804.30.60 · correct
C0812.90.40 · your answer
D0813.40.90
Why not C? Heading 0812 covers fruit "provisionally preserved, but unsuitable in that state for immediate consumption." These pineapples are ready to eat, so 0812 is out. Heading 0804 names pineapples "fresh or dried," and 0804.30.60 is the "reduced in size" line.

The difference

An answer key tells you what. You need to know why.

Some questions come back from earlier exams, and the rest test the same rules in new ways. Understanding the reasoning behind released questions is how you handle the new ones.

31  Answer B  Heading 0804, HTSUS

Correct, but it doesn't say why the other three options fail, which headings were in play, or what trap the question set.

A CustomsExamPrep worked answer

What every question looks like here
  1. 1Try it first. Pick an answer and get instant feedback.
  2. 2The reasoning, step by step. GRI path for classification, the controlling 19 CFR section for everything else.
  3. 3The source text, quoted. The exact heading or regulation language, so you learn where to look.
  4. 4Why each wrong option fails. Most points are lost to well-built distractors.

FAQ

Questions, answered

When will the October 2026 exam be worked?

CBP typically publishes each exam and its answer key a few weeks after the sitting. We'll publish the full worked version within days of that and email everyone on the list.

Are these the real exam questions?

Yes. We only use exams and answer keys that CBP itself has published on cbp.gov. We never reconstruct or share unreleased questions.

Do you ever disagree with CBP's answer key?

No. Every explanation starts from the official answer and its cited authority. Where a question is genuinely ambiguous, or CBP accepted two answers or voided it, we say so plainly.

Is this affiliated with CBP?

No. CustomsExamPrep is an independent study resource. The explanations are educational and are not legal advice.
