When must customs brokers notify CBP of a change in address for their office of record?
How to get there
A pure recall question. The choices only differ on 10 vs 30 and calendar vs business days.
19 CFR 111.30(a): Change of addressWhen address information (the broker's office of record address, mailing address, email address) changes … he or she must update his or her address information within ten (10) calendar days through a CBP-authorized electronic data interchange (EDI) system. If a CBP-authorized EDI system is not available, then address updates must be provided in writing within ten (10) calendar days to the processing Center.
10 calendar days: A.
Why the other choices are wrong
B) 10 business days: right number, wrong kind of day. Part 111 deadlines like this one are in calendar days.
C) and D) 30 days: 30 calendar days is the deadline for employee list updates (§ 111.28(b)) and for producing records on request (§ 111.25(b)), not for address changes.
Tip
10-day group in § 111.30: address changes ((a)) and changes in organization, such as a new license or permit qualifier or a change in legal structure ((b)). Both are 10 calendar days.
