Reporting a new broker employee: which list complies?

April 2026 examBroker ComplianceQuestion 14 of 80

As a licensed customs broker and sole proprietor of her business, Janet Martin is responsible for submitting a list of the names of her current employees to the processing Center. Ms. Martin has two employees, Spencer McGill and Logan Sharpe. Ms. Martin submitted Spencer McGill’s relevant information to the processing Center within 30 calendar days of his employment in 2021 and none of Mr. McGill’s information has changed since then. Logan Sharpe is a new employee, and Ms. Martin has not yet notified the processing Center of Ms. Sharpe’s employment. Which ONE of the following lists should Ms. Martin timely provide to the processing Center to best comply with CBP regulations?

How to get there

Check each list against six required fields, and against the rule on whom the list must cover:

McGill's details haven't changed, so only Logan Sharpe has to be reported, though an updated full list that flags her is also allowed. A lists Sharpe with all six fields: name, SSN, full date of birth, place of birth, date of hire and home address. It complies.

Why the other choices are wrong

B) Gives only the birth year and a PO box mailing address. The rule requires the full date of birth and the current home address.
C) A full-list format with Sharpe flagged is allowed, but it leaves out place of birth for both employees. Incomplete.
D) Uses mailing addresses (a PO box for Sharpe) instead of home addresses, and doesn't specifically note which employee is new, as an all-employee list must.
Tip
Six fields: name · SSN · date of birth · place of birth · date of hire · home address. Deadlines: 30 calendar days for new hires, changes and terminations.
