Under which of the following circumstances would the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Cargo Release system generate a "documents required" message upon entry submission?
How to get there
ACE Business Rules and Process Document, 1.2: System Generated Notification (Cargo Release)If the filer receives a "documents required" message upon entry submission in ACE Cargo Release, that is an indicator that CBP and/or a Partner Government Agency (PGA) is requesting supporting documentation for further review.
That's D, word for word.
Why the other choices are wrong
A) Ready for release: the opposite. "Documents required" means CBP wants more before releasing the goods.
B) Correct or override a census warning: that's what the filer does after a census warning on an entry summary (BRPD 1.1), a different message altogether.
C) A CF 29 Notice of Action: CBP's formal notice of a proposed or taken change in classification or value. It isn't an automatic cargo release message.
Tip
A "documents required" request can also come after the entry summary is filed. CBP can request documents electronically within the first 30 days (UC2 or UC3 messages). After that, it uses CBP Form 28, the Request for Information. Filers can upload documents through DIS or the portal.
