Jane Doe is filing an entry summary. One line item is for a woman's dress, which is a woven garment of three different colors. In addition to the general information required on the accompanying commercial invoice, what other information that is specific to the dress must be provided on the invoice by regulation?
How to get there
Section 141.89(a) lists extra invoice information by commodity. Look up Wearing apparel:
19 CFR 141.89(a): Wearing apparel… (3) For woven garments: Indicate whether the fabric is yarn dyed and whether there are "two or more colors in the warp and/or filling";
(4) For all-white T-shirts and singlets: Indicate whether or not the garment contains pockets, trim, or embroidery;
(5) For mufflers: State the exact dimensions …
(4) For all-white T-shirts and singlets: Indicate whether or not the garment contains pockets, trim, or embroidery;
(5) For mufflers: State the exact dimensions …
A woven, multi-colored dress triggers item (3). The answer is D.
Why the other choices are wrong
Each distractor is a real § 141.89 requirement, but for a different commodity:
A) Embroidery, lace, braid, edging …: the bed linen and bedspreads requirement (see Q21).
B) Pockets: required for all-white T-shirts and singlets.
C) Exact dimensions: required for mufflers.
Tip
Section 141.89 questions reward looking up the commodity alphabetically and reading only that entry. This exam used it twice (Q21 bedspreads, Q62 woven garments), and the distractors are borrowed from neighboring entries.
